The Coronavirus and shipping service

15-03-2020

The Coronavirus leads to many questions. All kinds of institutions work together to prevent infections and limit the consequences of the virus.

As recently announced by the government, the rules regarding the Coronavirus have become even stricter. The Netherlands is now temporarily in a mitigation phase. This means that in several areas of the Netherlands it is no longer possible to contain the outbreak and in some parts of the Netherlands where suppression is possible, this is being pursued. All inhabitants are advised to limit new social contacts as much as possible in case of complaints such as sore throats, coughs and nasal colds. This is because of the newly created epidemiological situation, the high work pressure and the threat to public health. In addition, there is urgent advice to limit visits to people.

Consequences for visitors in our freight centre?

Current government policy is compellingly aimed at protecting public health and preventing the (rapid) spread of the Coronavirus. As a result, it has been decided that until further notice, we will not receive any private individuals in our freight centre.

Is it possible to deliver my luggage or package to the freight centre?

No, currently the management has decided, in the interest of public health, that until further notice no private persons can deliver their belongings to our freight centre. We stand for a good and flexible service, but public health, and therefore the customers and employees of our company, is also very important.

Can my parcel or baggage still be picked up and sent as a private person?

Yes, it is still possible to organise and send your luggage and parcels via our collection service. However, there may be a possibility that the desired delivery times will not be met due to congestion and limited capacity at airlines and shipping companies.

What should I do if the driver comes to collect my package or baggage and what precautions should I take?

On the advice of the RIVM, since Monday evening 9th of March 2020 you are called upon to pay extra attention to your personal hygiene. Naturally, we and our partners want to adhere to this.

The following measures must be taken before approaching the driver on arrival.

  • Before opening the door, wash your hands with soap and water.
  • Cough and sneeze on the inside of your elbow
  • No shaking hands

Can you get infected with the coronavirus through products or touching surfaces? (e.g. door handle, ATM, handrail, money, etc.)

The coronavirus spreads through humans and animals. Outside the body, the virus cannot survive well. The chance of getting infected by touching products or surfaces is very small.

Take the measures that apply to all viruses that can cause flu and colds and wash your hands regularly.

Are there certain restrictions for picking up baggage and parcels?

If you have a cold, mild coughing or an increase to 38.0 degrees Celsius, we ask our customers to reconsider whether the parcel or baggage to be sent cannot be postponed, in order to minimize the risk of contamination of our employees and partners.
